Just a quick update on some of the events for the 50th.
Hotel rooms are now available in Murray. We have reserved 22 rooms at the Days Inn and 10 rooms at the Hampton Inn in Murray. They are booked under Sigma Chi Alumni Association. They are on a first come, first serve basis. 12 of the rooms at the Days Inn are queen bed double rooms so if anyone wants to share a room, those are available. The Hampton also has 12 studio rooms available as of this morning. Those rooms are not a part of the block of rooms that we have set aside but may be available if booked individually.
The weekend is going to be great. Here is a quick rundown of what we have planned so far.
Friday April 24th:
1 p.m. Alumni Golf Scramble and lunch at Miller Golf Course
4 man scramble (may be extended to 6 man depending
on turnout), shotgun start. Team registrations will be
available shortly on our website,
www.murraysigalumni.com
6-9 p.m. Epsilon Tau celebration dinner at the Racer Room in the
Regional Special Events Center. Murray State will be
making a special presentation. Other highlights will include
a special dedication to the original DA's and a presentation by
some of the Grand Officers from our national headquarters.
There will also be a silent auction of Sigma Chi memorabilia
and other items donated by our alumni.
Saturday April 25th
Murray Mayor Tom Rushing, a former DA and a member of the Alpha pledge class of ET has proclaimed April 25th as Sigma Chi Day by the city of Murray in recognition.
9-11 a.m. A special Ritual presentation will be presented by the
undergraduate chapter, more private details will be
released later.
12-1 p.m. Ritualistic House Dedication Ceremony (public Ritual)
Coctails will be available both Friday and Saturday night at the chapter house.
More events and details will be added as the planning goes along. We are partnering with the Murray State Alumni Association so you will also be receiving updates from Murray State as well. Please tell everyone who is a Sig about this event and about this site so that we can touch base with all the Sigs from Epsilon Tau.
This event will entail an enormous amount of planning and a little bit of money, so I cannot stress to everyone how important it is to RSVP so that we will have enough resources to celebrate this important part of our history. If you would like to donate a couple of bucks to the effort, that would also be greatly appreciated. Our website,
www.murraysigalumni.com has a link for making donations. All proceeds collected from the site are specifically allocated for this celebration, so any donation you could make would be greatly appreciated.
The Racer Room can accomodate 200-250 people, so please RSVP so that we can look for other accomodations if necessary.
Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions.
